Mission

To provide all necessary medical treatment and shelter for cats that are physically challenged, medically compromised, or homeless, until a suitable home is found.

This little guy right here is Doc J, my handicat and the inspiration for Purrfect Pitters. Early in my career in animal welfare, Doc was brought to the shelter where I was employed. He was in rough shape, the victim of animal abuse. He was only 6 months old yet he suffered from brain and neurological damage. The signs of that abuse are still with Doc today: a little wobble to his walk, the occasional fall, his crooked jaw slightly agape showing his adorable tiny teeth. His paws bend in all sorts of funny and odd ways, and his cute gaze leaves you wondering what he daydreams about. Sadly, Doc also suffers from seizures.

But animals are nothing if not resilient, and even after all that he has been through, Doc is as sweet as pie. He is my daily reminder that all animals, no matter their background and circumstance, have love to give. Doc still loves curling up on the couch, snacking on treats, and taking a ride in his stroller. Meet him and you’ll fall in love.

Handicapped cats deserve a chance at having a wonderful life just as much as any other cat. Purrfect Pitters focuses on helping to rescue handicapped or special needs cats just like Doc. He has brought so much pure joy into my life - we hope to bring that same joy to other people through adopting handicapped or special needs pitters!
